Former Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail by a UK court after being charged with multiple sexual offences.
The 32-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5, 2025, where he faced five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault involving a third woman.
These alleged incidents are said to have taken place between April 2021 and June 2022 in London and Spain.
Partey stood in court wearing black and confirmed his identity. He did not enter a plea during the hearing.
Magistrate Paul Goldspring ruled that Partey could remain on bail under strict conditions.
These include not contacting any of the alleged victims, reporting any changes to his permanent address, informing the police before any international travel, and notifying authorities if he stays at any location other than his registered address for more than 14 days.
The charges follow a lengthy investigation by the Metropolitan Police and Crown Prosecution Service, which began in early 2022.
Partey’s legal team has denied the allegations and stated that he has cooperated fully with authorities throughout the process.
The CPS formally charged him on July 4, shortly after his contract with Arsenal ended in June 2025.
Partey had been a key figure for Arsenal since joining in 2020 for £45 million, making over 50 appearances last season.
Despite the legal proceedings, reports suggest he is close to finalizing a move to Spanish club Villarreal and has already undergone a medical with the La Liga side.
His current bail conditions do not prevent him from completing the transfer.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 2, 2025, at the Old Bailey in London, where he will face trial on the charges.
