Rivers Emergency Rule: Tinubu’s Action Unconstitutional, Says Kwankwaso

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has positioned itself as the “beautiful bride” of Nigerian politics ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that Nigerians have already chosen the direction they want the country to take.

Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, NNPP National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said the party remains open to alliances but insisted that it belongs to all Nigerians and not a select few.

“We are open and ready to talk to anybody who wants us to work together for 2027,” Kwankwaso said. “But the fact remains: this party is not my party, it is not the chairman’s party, and it is not the party of only those of us in this hall. It belongs to Nigerians.

“Everybody is free to come in. On the other hand, even though we don’t want anybody to leave, if someone decides to go, what else can we do? Nothing. We will simply keep working hard. We are happy with our members across the country for their commitment and loyalty, and I want to assure you that the leadership will not fail. We will strive to be fair.”

He added that the NNPP is steadily gaining ground because of its commitment to fairness and inclusiveness, stressing that any future alliance or negotiation would be undertaken collectively on behalf of the party.

Kwankwaso also highlighted Nigeria’s worsening socio-economic challenges, noting that poverty and insecurity have heightened the relevance of the NNPP.
“Poverty is everywhere in this country. Some communities cannot go to farms or markets, schools have been vacated. So there are real issues on the ground,” he said.

In his goodwill message, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdus Salam Gwarzo, pledged support for Kwankwaso’s leadership, acknowledging his role in strengthening the party.

Earlier, NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, described the NNPP as the “beautiful bride of Nigerian politics,” saying it has become the most sought-after platform ahead of 2027.

He argued that the party’s manifesto, anchored on progressive ideology and citizens’ welfare, sets it apart.

He assured members that the NEC would deliberate on upcoming congresses, the national convention, electoral reforms, and strategies for mass mobilization.

Ahmed also urged Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration by INEC.

“With your PVC, you have the power to elect credible leaders who will meet the needs and aspirations of the people,” he said.
