Russia carried out a wave of drone and missile strikes overnight, hitting several regions of Ukraine, including Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and areas near Kyiv.
In Dnipro, a residential building was destroyed and a shopping centre damaged, though no casualties were reported.
Later in the day, four people were injured in another drone strike. It was the second consecutive night of attacks on Dnipropetrovsk.
Railway infrastructure near Kyiv was also hit, while emergency crews battled fires in Zaporizhzhia. Explosions were reported across central and south-eastern Ukraine.
The attacks followed one of the deadliest aerial assaults on Kyiv earlier in the week, which killed at least 25 people.
In response, Ukraine said its drones struck Russian oil facilities in Krasnodar and Syzran, causing fires at both sites.
Russian officials confirmed damage at Krasnodar’s refinery but reported no casualties.
Moscow also claimed to have downed 20 Ukrainian drones, including 18 over Crimea, and announced the capture of Komyshevakha in Donetsk, though Ukraine has not confirmed the claim.
Despite mounting losses, Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow’s military leadership stated its offensive is ongoing across much of the front line.
The renewed escalation coincides with diplomatic talks in Denmark, where EU foreign ministers are debating whether to freeze €210bn in Russian assets and impose further sanctions.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Western nations to act, saying only tougher measures would stop Russia’s attacks.
