A bomb explosion struck a public rally in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta late Tuesday, killing at least 11 people and injuring several others, officials confirmed.
The gathering was organized to mark the anniversary of the death of Sardar Ataullah Mengal, a prominent Baloch nationalist leader and former chief minister of Balochistan.
Government representative Hamza Shafaat said emergency services quickly rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, while security forces cordoned off the area for investigation.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, has long been a flashpoint of insurgent violence, with nationalist and separatist groups, as well as extremist factions, carrying out periodic attacks on political events, security forces, and civilians.
The blast comes amid heightened tensions in the region, where political grievances and calls for greater autonomy have often intersected with violent unrest. Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
