The Nigerian Army has recorded new successes in the fight against terrorism and crime across different parts of the country, with dozens of terrorists neutralised, 11 suspects arrested and 39 kidnapped victims freed within the last 24 hours.
According to information from the Army Headquarters in Abuja, troops carried out coordinated operations in the Northeast, North Central and Northwest regions. In Borno State, soldiers under Operation Hadin Kai stopped attempted attacks in Dikwa and Gubio Local Government Areas and dismantled an improvised explosive device along the Baga–Cross Kauwa road in Kukawa. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the operation.
In Kaduna and Katsina States, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA cleared several terrorist hideouts and rescued a soldier who had been abducted in Zamfara in July. Security forces in Kogi State, working with vigilantes and hybrid forces, traced armed men from an abandoned bus to their hideout in Adavi Local Government Area, where 17 kidnapped victims were rescued and provided medical care.
Elsewhere in Plateau and Benue States, troops operating under Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke arrested six suspects linked to kidnapping, cattle rustling and militia attacks. They also prevented an attack on Nteng village in Quan-Pan, forcing armed extremists to retreat after suffering losses. Two kidnap victims were freed in Benue, including one person who had been held since July before being abandoned by the kidnappers on sighting the advancing soldiers.
In the South-South, troops of the Joint Task Force discovered and destroyed over 5,000 litres of stolen crude oil and illegally refined diesel in Bayelsa and Rivers States during anti-bunkering operations.
The Army stated that these operations show the continued determination of the Armed Forces to restrict criminal activities across the country. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, urged Nigerians to support military efforts by providing timely and reliable information to aid ongoing operations.
