Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has assured residents that his administration will not rely on loans to carry out development projects, stating that he will not plunge the state into debt or neglect projects inherited from previous governments.
The governor made this known during the flag-off of a 16.5-kilometre asphalt road in Lere Local Government Area. The road, which will link Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, Unguwan Sarki, Maskawa and Dan Alhaji communities, is being handled by a reputable construction company and is regarded as one of the largest projects in the area’s history.
He explained that his government had already delivered on several projects that were left unfinished by the previous administration. Among them are the Rewa Bridge in Gure and the Marjeri Bridge, both now completed, while the Tudai Bridge is expected to be ready within two months. The governor also said steps were being taken to resolve the long-standing electricity supply issues in Yarkasuwa, Kayarda, Ramin Kura and Mariri.
At the event, leaders from the area commended the governor for fulfilling promises made to the people of Lere. The Commissioner for Environment, Abubakar Buba, noted that indigenes of Lere had been appointed into important positions in the current administration, giving them a strong voice in decision-making.
House Majority Leader, Munira Suleiman Tanimu, recalled that residents had demanded the road project during the 2023 election campaign and expressed confidence that such interventions would secure future support for the ruling party.
Also speaking, Ahmed Munir, member of the House of Representatives, praised the governor’s long relationship with Lere, recalling his youthful days as a striker for the Saminaka Celtics football team. He said just as Sani once brought victories to the field, he is now delivering results for Kaduna State.
