Residents of Agunbiade in the Somolu area of Lagos State attacked a physically challenged man on Thursday after he was accused of using charms to make another man’s manhood disappear.
The incident began when a man raised an alarm, claiming his manhood vanished immediately after he picked up a cash note allegedly dropped by the disabled suspect. The cry for help attracted a crowd, which pounced on the man, beating him and demanding that he reverse the alleged act.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect, who appeared crippled, was badly injured during the assault, with blood visible on his head. He was also alleged to have admitted that the money had been laced with charms and promised to restore the manhood if allowed to go elsewhere.
Police officers from the Onipanu Division later arrived to calm the crowd. Witnesses said the alleged victim later claimed his manhood had been restored after the intervention.
The police spokesperson in Lagos, Abimbola Adebisi, said a response would be provided on the matter but had yet to release details at the time of this report.
This incident happened just days after a tricyclist was reportedly beaten to death in Lagos Island by a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers. Similar cases have been recorded in other states, including Delta, where police once detained a man who accused officers at a stop-and-search checkpoint of stealing his manhood, an allegation later dismissed after investigations.
