Solomon Ewuga, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and senator, has died at the age of 70.
Family sources confirmed that Ewuga passed away on Tuesday after battling a long illness. His death brings to a close a political career that stretched across several decades of service at both state and national levels.
Ewuga first came into the limelight as Deputy Governor under Abdullahi Adamu, later moving on to serve as Minister of State for the FCT, where he played a role in the development of Abuja. He went on to represent Nasarawa North in the Senate during the 7th National Assembly, where he was known for his contributions to legislative debates and advocacy for his constituency.
In December 2023, Ewuga drew attention when he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after years with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move that reflected his ability to adapt within Nigeria’s shifting political landscape.
Widely regarded as a statesman, Ewuga was respected for his impact on Nasarawa’s politics and his influence in shaping democratic processes in the country.
He is survived by his family, colleagues, and admirers who remember him for his dedication to leadership and public service.
