
Armed bandits on Tuesday invaded Motokun and Agboro communities in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a police officer and a woman while abducting six residents.
The incident, which happened on September 23, left several people injured and properties destroyed. The attackers first struck Motokun, where six residents were taken away and others sustained gunshot wounds. One of the injured victims, a woman, later died at the hospital while the rest are receiving treatment.
The armed men later moved to Agboro community, where they attacked a private company. During the operation, a police officer was killed while defending the area, and properties belonging to the firm were damaged.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, had ordered tactical teams to work with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to restore calm and rescue the abducted residents. Security patrols and surveillance have also been increased within the affected areas to prevent further attacks.
The Command also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident and appealed to residents to remain calm while staying alert and reporting suspicious activities to security operatives.
