Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has congratulated former Governor Donald Duke on his 64th birthday, describing him as a statesman of rare distinction whose leadership continues to inspire both the state and the nation.
In a message released through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, Governor Otu praised Duke as a leader whose tenure stands as a shining example of courage, compassion, and progress.
He noted that Duke’s years in office marked a renaissance of vision and service that rekindled hope and pride across Cross River.
“Former Governor Duke’s leadership lit a path that continues to guide our collective aspirations,” Otu said. He added that Duke’s legacy goes beyond physical projects and infrastructure, embodying enduring values of innovation, creativity, and an unshakable belief in the capacity of Cross River to lead.
Governor Otu recalled that under Duke, Cross River was repositioned as a hub of culture, tourism, and enterprise, with the globally acclaimed Carnival Calabar putting the state on the world map.
He stressed that Duke’s policies touched lives, ignited dreams, and renewed faith in the possibilities of purposeful leadership.
The Governor also noted that even beyond public office, Duke remains a beacon of wisdom and an elder statesman whose words continue to inspire the younger generation.
“His life is a wellspring of guidance anchored in service and vision,” Otu said.
As Duke marked his 64th birthday, Governor Otu prayed for his renewed strength, abiding joy, and lasting fulfillment.
“On behalf of the government and the good people of Cross River State, I heartily felicitate with you, Your Excellency, and wish you happiness, peace, laughter, and divine favor in the years ahead,” he added.
