CIBN Inaugurates 160-seater Bankers Training Hub In Lagos

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on institutions and professional associations to partner with government to shape a stronger, more competitive educational future for Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu made the call during the inauguration of a 160-seater hall at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu to train and produce chartered bankers.

The governor was represented by Mr Tolani Sule, Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education.

He said that the hall would not only serve as a centre for academic discourse, seminars and talk leadership, but also a springboard for nurturing new generations of global standard financial professionals.

“This speaks to the enduring power of corporate social responsibility, when executed with excellent willingness and impact.

“In a world where education is no longer confined to lectures and textbooks, but increasingly driven by innovation, collaboration and experimental learning, these facilities stand able,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu urged the leadership and students of LASUSTECH to take ownership of this gift and maintain it with pride, create purpose, maximise its potential as a space for learning, research, and professional development.

He said the hub for practical knowledge, technological innovation and high-level manpower development aligned perfectly with the vision of his administration.

“As a government, we have remained intentional about redefining tertiary education in Lagos State,” he said.

Prof. Pius Olanrewaju, President/Chairman of Council, CIBN, said the Legacy Project which is the 13th, signifies CIBN’s dedication to bridging the gap between academic theory and practical banking skills.

Olanrewaju said the facility, to be formally known as “The CIBN Bankers Hall,” is for the training of aspiring bankers.

He explained the commitment to partnership and the unwavering commitment of CIBN to the promotion of education, professionalism, and the advancement of national development.

“It is noteworthy to mention that this is the 13th Bankers Hall to be commissioned by the institute.

“Over the past five years, we have proudly commissioned halls across all the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria,” he said.

He thanked the university and other stakeholders for their support towards completion of the project.

Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, LASUSTECH Vice-Chancellor, thanked CIBN, the university’s stakeholders involved in the designs, construction and the completion of this building.

“This commissioning is a great example of academia industry partnership. It is indeed a shining example,” he said.

Odusanya said the project aligned with his vision to make the university world class and highly-competitive.

He urged CIBN to continue the partnership with the institution toward raising the bar of excellence to deal with the changing global dynamics in the finance sector including crypto currency and other digital assets.

The inauguration, held at the LASUSTECH Campus, was attended by government officials, students, bankers and members of the academia.

NAN further reports that CIBN and the university also signed an agreement for students of the institution to be integrated as chattered bankers after graduation.Media monitoring tools
