The Edo State Government has commenced its third quarter Data Review Meeting and 2026 Workplan Development Retreat for the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project, supported by the World Bank.
The meeting, held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City, brought together Medical Officers of Health and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers from all eighteen local government areas to present and review data from their activities.
Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Coulson Oahimire Osoikhia, commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to ensure accuracy and transparency in data reporting. “I want us to take this exercise seriously. Let’s see what we are doing and harmonize the data for effective planning and health delivery,” he said, adding that assessors would soon visit Primary Healthcare Centres for the PHC Leadership Challenge Test.
IMPACT Project Manager for Edo State, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, explained that the 2026 Workplan would prioritize service delivery and improved health outcomes. “While the 2025 focus was on infrastructure upgrade, with sixty-one facilities renovated across the state, the 2026 plan emphasizes facility utilization and better service quality,” he stated.
The session also reviewed the 2025 Workplan to identify challenges and lessons learned, which will inform the new plan. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mrs. Esther Ajayi David, announced that the PHC Challenge Test would begin on October 20, urging facilities to cooperate fully with assessors.
The retreat, which included stakeholders, partners, and representatives from the Project Implementation Unit, reaffirmed Edo State’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and sustaining collaboration with the World Bank for improved health service delivery.
