The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State says a road accident has claimed eight lives at the front of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, on Wednesday night.
Samuel Ibitoye, FRSC state sector commander, made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Akure.
Mr Ibitoye, who said the accident involved a motorcycle and a truck loaded with cement, explained that five male adults, two female adults and one male child were killed in the incident.
The sector commander said the accident occurred when the truck, after avoiding a motorcycle, ran into a barricade in front of the university, causing it to lose control and result in the crash.
“Eight people were killed on the spot, while the bodies have been deposited at the morgue of a hospital in the town,” he said.
Mr Ibitoye, therefore, advised drivers and road users to always obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes.
