Lokoja, Kogi State – The Kogi State Government has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing Major General Waidi Shaibu, a proud son of Kogi State, as the new Chief of Army Staff.
In a statement issued on October 24, 2025, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, said Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo described the appointment as a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to fairness, equity, and recognition of merit in national service.

“We are proud of Major General Shaibu’s achievements and we have no doubt that he will make a significant impact in his new role,” Governor Ododo said, as quoted in the statement.
