The Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) has extended a warm congratulatory message to Major General Waidi Shaibu on his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff.
In a statement signed by Prof. Godwin Ogbadu, Chairman of KEEC, and Chief Dr. Rekiya Momoh-Abaji, Secretary-General of KEEC, the council expressed delight and pride in General Shaibu’s achievement, citing his dedication and service to the nation.
“We have been following your service records and note how your hard work and dedication to service have been inspirational to many in Kogi East specifically, Kogi State at large, and Nigeria,” the statement read. “Based on your proven track records, we have no doubt that you will excel in this new position.”
The KEEC described General Shaibu’s appointment as a “strategic choice” and a “round peg in a round hole,” expressing confidence that he will excel in his new role. The council prayed for General Shaibu’s success and offered their support, stating, “Please be assured that we stand in readiness to avail you our presence and moral support whenever we are required.”
The appointment of General Shaibu has been widely welcomed, with many Nigerians expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Nigerian Army to greater heights.
As he assumes his new role, the former Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), leading counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast, faces the challenge of addressing the nation’s security concerns and maintaining peace across the country.
