The Chairman, Senate Committee on Customs excise and tarrifs duties, Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho), has commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR) for appointing Gen. W. Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff, (COAS).
In his remarks during the Senate screening session, Echocho described the appointment as a well deserved recognition of excellence, professionalism, and dedication to national service.
The federal lawmaker, who noted that he has known Gen. Shaibu for over three decades, attested to his humility, discipline, and remarkable leadership qualities. He expressed confidence that the new Chief of Army Staff will bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing the Nigerian Army’s operational efficiency in strengthening the nation’s internal security challenges.
The Senator, further assured that the National Assembly would continue to provide the necessary legislative support to the Nigerian Armed Forces to suppress the lingering insecurity in the country.
“Gen. Shaibu is a man of integrity who has served this nation with commitment and honour. I am confident that his leadership will further reposition the Army for greater effectiveness,” Echocho concluded.
