Abuja – Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from across the country have reaffirmed their confidence in the party’s ability to reinvent itself and reclaim its status as Nigeria’s leading political institution dedicated to serving the aspirations of the people.
In a joint statement issued by the Progressive and Democratic Chairmen of the PDP, the leaders pledged their unwavering commitment to internal democracy, the rule of law, and strict adherence to the party’s constitution in the conduct of its affairs.
The chairmen restated that the PDP was built on the values of democracy, justice, equity, and inclusiveness, principles that have sustained its relevance since the return of democratic governance in 1999. They maintained that these ideals remain vital for ensuring the party emerges stronger, more united, and reflective of the collective will of Nigerians.
“We believe that discipline, fairness, and constitutional order are indispensable to the credibility and sustainability of our great party,” the statement said.
The PDP leaders also declared their full support for the emergence of Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad as the Acting National Chairman of the party and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. They expressed confidence in the duo’s leadership experience, integrity, and capacity to guide the PDP through what they described as a critical period of renewal and repositioning.
The chairmen appealed to party members at all levels to close ranks, put aside personal differences, and work together toward rebuilding the PDP into a people-oriented, progressive political movement.
Reaffirming their commitment to national development, they vowed to build a party Nigerians can once again look to with pride as a credible alternative, a true voice of democracy, and a platform for good governance.
“Long live the Peoples Democratic Party. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
