APC Will Take Over South-South in 2027, Says Party Chieftain

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term following the visit of the minister of state for defence, Bello Matawalle, to the state.

The state APC publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris, disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Saturday.

Mr Matawalle is currently on a three-day working visit to the state.

Upon arrival in the state on Thursday, the minister was greeted by a massive crowd of APC supporters and stakeholders.

Mr Matawalle had also held a stakeholders’ meeting with the leadership of the party at the state APC headquarters on Friday.

“The minister also visited the Headquarters of Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma of the Nigerian Army, in Gusau.

According to Mr Idris, Mr Matawalle also proceeded to his hometown, Maradun, to meet with relatives, friends, and well-wishers.

Mr Idris said that the party’s leadership in the state under Tukur Danfulani, in appreciation of the minister’s visit to the state, had endorsed Mr Tinubu for a second term.

The endorsement was contained in a letter signed by the chairman and secretary of the party, addressed to Mr Tinubu through Mr Matawalle.

The letter read in part: “This followed a series of meetings by members of our great, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara, comprising leaders, stakeholders, and teeming supporters, held on Saturday, 1st Nov. 2025 in Talata-Mafara, and on Friday, 14th Nov. 2025 at the State Party Secretariat in Gusau.

“The party deliberated extensively under the distinguished leadership of Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

“After careful consideration of the remarkable achievements of the current administration under the focused and visionary leadership of Tinubu.

“This is particularly in the areas of economic reform and the courageous, pragmatic efforts to address national security challenges, the Zamfara APC unanimously endorsed Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027.”

According to Mr Idris, the endorsement letter was duly signed by the party’s leaders and stakeholders.

It continued, “Subsequently, stakeholders across all 14 local government areas of Zamfara initiated further validation of this resolution through individual letters signed by their respective party chairmen and secretaries.

“These letters reaffirmed the resolutions reached at the Talata-Mafara and Gusau meetings and were duly submitted to the State Executive Committee of the APC, under the leadership of Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, for onward transmission to His Excellency.

“In the light of these collective affirmations, we are confident, by the special will and grace of Almighty Allah, that our great party, the APC, will achieve resounding victory across the entire North-West zone in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.”
