Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has publicly distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to expel Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, from the party.
In a statement on his X account, Fintiri expressed his disagreement with the expulsion, citing concerns that it may not be in the best interest of the party.
“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, wishes to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, from PDP,” Fintiri said. He emphasized that the decision to expel Wike could further exacerbate divisions within the PDP, urging stakeholders to work towards healing and unity.
Fintiri’s stance comes after Wike, along with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and former PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, were expelled from the party during its convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. The expulsion was announced amidst allegations of anti-party activities and gross breaches of the party’s constitution.
Fintiri’s comments reflect his commitment to maintaining peace and stability within the PDP, as he stressed that his position is guided by the desire for reconciliation and the party’s best interests.
