President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the redeployment and appointment of officials in two strategic agencies of the Federal Government, aiming to boost transparency and accountability in the sector.
Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar has been redeployed from his position as Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to serve as the new Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI). This move is expected to leverage his experience in promoting transparency and accountability in the extractive industry.
Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, CFR, has been appointed as the new Chairman of NIWA, replacing Hon. Sarkin Adar. The appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the agency’s efforts in promoting effective service delivery and good governance.
In a statement, Segun Imohiosen, Director, Information & Public Relations, said President Tinubu urged the newly appointed officials to be patriotic and leverage their experience to drive reforms and improve governance in their respective agencies.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urges the newly appointed and redeployed officials to be patriotic and to bring their wealth of experience to bear in strengthening transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery within their respective agencies,” Imohiosen said.
The appointments take immediate effect, and stakeholders are expecting the new officials to hit the ground running in addressing the challenges facing the agencies and promoting good governance in the country.
