A devastating incident occurred at the Dubai Air Show, as an Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter jet crashed during an aerial display, resulting in the tragic death of the pilot. The incident happened around 2:10 pm local time, with emergency services responding rapidly to the scene.
The Indian Air Force’s Tejas fighter jet crashed at the Dubai Air Show on November 21, 2025, killing the pilot. This incident occurred during an aerial display, marking the second crash of the Tejas jet, with the first happening in March 2024 in Jaisalmer, India.
“We deeply regret the loss of life and stand firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief,” the IAF said in a statement. A court of inquiry has been constituted to determine the cause of the accident.
The Tejas, a 4.5-generation multi-role combat aircraft, was performing aerobatic maneuvers when it suddenly lost height and struck the ground near Al Maktoum International Airport. The crash sent a plume of thick black smoke into the air, prompting panic among onlookers, including families with children.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his condolences, saying, “Deeply anguished at the loss of a brave and courageous IAF pilot during an aerial display in Dubai Air Show. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The nation stands firmly with the family in this tragic hour”.
This incident marks the second crash of the Tejas fighter jet, with the first occurring in India in 2024. The Dubai Air Show, a major aviation event, has been a platform for India to showcase its indigenous defense capabilities.
