Lagos Police Recover 10 Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers

The Lagos State police command has recorded significant operational successes in November, recovering 10 stolen vehicles and arresting suspected armed robbers involved in violent crimes across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Monday.

According to him, the achievements are the result of intelligence-led operations, targeted raids, sustained surveillance, and proactive tactical responses.

Mr Jimoh said the recovered vehicles included a white Toyota Hilux, a white Range Rover Short SUV, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, and several others linked to criminal activities such as fraudulent conversion, vehicle snatching, and smuggling.

The commissioner added that the command also recovered a motorcycle, a Boxer Bajaj, which was intercepted following intelligence that revealed its involvement in criminal operations.

He said six firearms, including locally made pistols, cut-to-size guns, multiple live cartridges, and dangerous weapons such as a machete, battle axe, and assault dagger, were seized.

Other recovered items included Nigerian military camouflage, charms, and fake currency valued at $4,000 (N5,850,520).

The police boss stated that the arrests targeted suspected armed robbers involved in conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery, assault occasioning harm and threats to life.

“These items were seized during intelligence-driven operations aimed at neutralising gangs responsible for violent crimes and coordinated attacks in different parts of the state,” he said.

The CP explained that multiple suspects were assisting with ongoing investigations, which aimed to identify accomplices and establish interstate and cross-border criminal networks.

“Authorities are also working to authenticate the rightful ownership of all recovered vehicles.

“The investigations seek to trace the source of the recovered fake currency and examine the use of military camouflage and charms in facilitating criminal activities.

“These efforts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen security, disrupt criminal operations across the state, and dismantle criminal gangs, intercept stolen property, remove illegal firearms from circulation and enhance public safety,” the CP said.

He added that the command also planned to increase oversight over car-hire services and informal transport arrangements, which were often exploited by criminals, to further prevent crimes in the state.
