The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, in Rivers State as part of efforts to mobilise political support ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expected re election bid in 2027.
The station is housed within the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt and is being positioned as a grassroots communication platform to promote the ideals and policy direction of the Tinubu administration, particularly in the South South region.
A video circulating on social media shows Wike touring the broadcast facility, inspecting studio equipment and interacting with staff members during the commissioning ceremony.
Sources familiar with the initiative said Majority FM was established to serve as a strategic outlet for the Renewed Hope movement, a political group aligned with President Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda.
Speaking at the launch, Wike highlighted the station’s intended reach across the state, noting that it would transmit messages to all 666 political wards in Rivers State. He added that the structure was already in place to support political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
Political observers say the launch of Majority FM underscores Wike’s continued influence in Rivers State politics and reflects early efforts to consolidate support networks well ahead of the next presidential contest.
