The 2025 Carnival Calabar winning band, Calas Vegas, has proudly represented Nigeria at the prestigious India World Festival, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage and creative talent on an international stage.
The band’s energetic performance, vibrant costumes, and professionalism earned widespread praise from organisers and spectators, highlighting the depth and global appeal of Nigerian culture. The event also offered an opportunity to project the spirit of Carnival Calabar, Africa’s largest street party, to a worldwide audience.
In a statement released on 7 February 2026, the Cross River State Government commended Calas Vegas for their exceptional representation of the country.
The Special Adviser on Events Management and Chairman of the Carnival Calabar and Festival Committee, Effiong Ekpenyong, lauded the band’s leadership under High Chief Edem Duke, noting that his vision and dedication have continued to elevate Nigeria’s cultural presence globally.
The statement also acknowledged the support of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, whose administration has consistently invested in culture and tourism, ensuring that initiatives like Carnival Calabar and international cultural showcases continue to promote Cross River State positively.
