A Petroleum Technology Development Fund Overseas Scholarship beneficiary, Ndoma Akunobor, has commenced postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, crediting Senator Eteng Williams with the political backing that opened the door to the opportunity.
Akunobor, a constituent of Senator Eteng Williams who represents Cross River Central has arrived in the UK to begin a Master of Science programme at the University of Salford, Manchester, describing the development as a decisive intervention that reshaped his academic and professional trajectory.
He said his emergence under the highly competitive PTDF scholarship scheme did not happen by chance, but was the result of sustained encouragement and support from Senator Eteng Williams, whose commitment to expanding access to advanced education, he noted, continues to yield measurable outcomes for constituents.
The PTDF scholar also acknowledged the roles played by Richie Romanus and Hope Obeten, whom he said provided strategic guidance and steady support throughout the application process and relocation arrangements.
Tracing his roots to Iyami community in Okuni Village, Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, Akunobor said his journey from a rural background to a UK classroom underscores the impact of purposeful leadership and targeted political intervention.
He urged young people across Cross River Central with academic and professional ambitions to remain disciplined and focused, while rallying support for Senator Eteng Williams’ efforts to reposition the district through human capital development.
Akunobor assured his benefactors and supporters of his resolve to excel in his studies and to translate the opportunity into tangible value for his community and the state at large.
