The Chairman of the National Committee of the All Progressives Congress overseeing the conduct of Ward and Local Government Congresses in Cross River State, Samuel Yanap, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the congresses across the state.

Speaking while monitoring the exercise in selected local government areas, Yanap commended party members for demonstrating cohesion, harmony and internal democracy.

He said, “The consensus and affirmation arrangements that characterized these congresses reflect the unity within the party and the culture of peace and cordiality for which Cross River State is renowned.”

Yarnap added, “I am impressed with the level of coordination among members and the orderly manner in which the congresses were conducted. Cross River is setting a benchmark as one of the best organized in the country, and I have no doubt it will rank among those with the most peaceful and rancour free congresses nationwide.”

The Congress committee chairman urged party faithful to sustain the prevailing unity and momentum as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections. He emphasized, “While differences may arise within the party, members must continue to see themselves as one family and work collectively toward shared goals.”

He also cautioned against actions that could create division within the party, advising, “Do not allow opposition elements to infiltrate and destabilize the APC structure in the state.” Yanap reassured stakeholders that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu are committed to the progress of party members and are determined to leave lasting legacies.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Calabar Municipality, Apostle James Anam, said, “The peaceful conduct of the congresses is a testament to the leadership style of the governor and the party hierarchy in the state.”

The monitoring team, which included the State Chapter Chairman, Ntufam Ekuk Ojong, visited several wards across the selected local government areas to observe the conduct of the congresses.

Commenting further on the outcome, the APC Political Leader of Ward 4 Calabar South ,Chief Koko Henshaw, attributed the hitch free exercise to the atmosphere of peace, unity and shared sense of purpose fostered by Governor Bassey Otu. He said, “The governor’s inclusive leadership style has strengthened internal cohesion within the party and created a conducive environment for smooth and rancour free political processes across the state.”
