KOGI GUBER: AN OPEN LETTER TO VICE ADMIRAL USMAN OYIBE JIBRIN, CFR GSS AM psc(+) mni LLB PGCPA RTD

Dear Sir Usman Jibrin, CFR GSS AM psc(+) mni LLB PGCPA.

I respectfully with every sense of humility write this letter as my honest and sincere thoughts regarding the forthcoming Kogi Governorship election billed to hold on the 11th of November, 2023.

Firstly, I want to commend your zeal, tenacity, and passion for which you seek to liberate our dear State from the shackles of bad leadership which has put clogs in the wheel of the State’s progress under its current handler for almost 8 years who is orchestrating an evil plan to foist his rubber stamp candidate (brother) to advance a proxy third term. There is a widespread concern that this menace may continue if we do not unite to edge over this Frankenstein monster we all created by our actions and inactions in the past.

Given your pedigree, there is no doubt, you possess the character and attributes of a leader. I on the one part salute your strong passion so far as far as the subject matter is of reference.

However, as one of your many sons from Kogi East, I write to appeal to you and in good conscience to reconsider the need for a unified front as we gear into this election. This election is a critical one when we put into perspective the circumstances we have come to find ourselves in.

Sir, Murtala Ajaka is like a son to you and one thing every parent seeks to witness is for their children to succeed. It is in light of this that I beg you to team up with Mr. Ajaka so we can bring this election home. There is no way a tree can ever make a forest. If we go into this election divided, we will not be able to muster our numeric strength to our advantage. Muri currently enjoys a natural following across party, religious, and ethnic lines as it were, and as such, stands a better chance for a grand slam.

I understand sir that some of your supporters may be economical with the truth about this election when they speak with you regarding the same. They will only tell you what you anticipate to hear. I speak from an informed perspective having run for political office in 2019. I mean no disrespect, sir. We the entire people of Kogi State and the Eastern Kogi in particular wish and hope that you will be the hero, the one who saw that we need this election more than before.

Sir, politics is one business that comes with all shades of negativity. However, I appeal that you don’t pay attention to all the negativity some persons may have been reeling out on your campaign. As an elder of the land, please do leap above such pettiness and be the hero we have long sought. Set every hurt of the past aside for the common good of all.

History will never forget you at a time when we need to liberate the people of Kogi State.

God bless you and continue to keep you in good health as we look forward to seeing a turn in events in their earliest as the clock ticks away.
