Solomon Arenyeka has been elected as the new State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, signaling a major change in the state’s political dynamics.
Arenyeka previously served as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the party’s structures in Delta were merged into the APC in May 2025. This followed the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his administration from the PDP to the APC.
The Governor’s defection set off a broad realignment in the state, with several PDP executives, stakeholders, and party structures transitioning to the APC, reshaping Delta’s political landscape.
Political analysts see Arenyeka’s election as a continuation of this merger, reflecting the integration of former PDP leaders into the APC framework.
Party insiders say Arenyeka’s leadership will focus on fostering unity within the party, strengthening grassroots mobilization across Delta’s 25 local government areas, and positioning the APC for upcoming elections.
