Reports claiming that Portuguese veteran Cristiano Ronaldo has left Saudi Arabia and returned to Madrid have been dismissed as false.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano debunked the claims, clarifying that the Al-Nassr forward remains in Riyadh.
He wrote, “Cristiano Ronaldo did NOT leave Saudi Arabia with his family to return to Madrid today
“It’s a fake news reported on international media not true as Cristiano is at Al-Nassr training ground today.
“Ronaldo, being assessed with threatment after issues suffered last match was subbed off.”
Speculation about Ronaldo’s whereabouts intensified amid rising tensions in parts of the Middle East, with several social media accounts and some online platforms alleging that the 41-year-old had flown out of Riyadh with his family aboard his private jet for safety reasons.
Unverified reports suggested the Al-Nassr captain departed the country overnight, prompting widespread discussion among supporters and sections of the football community.
However, Romano’s clarification indicates there has been no change in Ronaldo’s situation.
The Portuguese forward remains in Riyadh, where he is undergoing treatment at Al-Nassr’s training facility and continuing preparations with his teammates ahead of upcoming matches.
