Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has urge Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and place their trust in God despite the numerous global challenges facing the world today, including wars, terrorism, economic difficulties, and social instability.
Governor Kefas made the appeal while ministering at the 2026 Annual Convention and 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Global Baptist Mission, held at the Unity Global Baptist Mission Church in Kusuku, Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Delivering his message on the opening day of the convention, the governor preached from Psalms 62:5–8, with the theme “Almighty God Is Our Rock in Times of Trouble.” He emphasized that God remains the ultimate refuge for believers in times of hardship and encouraged Christians to continually depend on Him for direction and strength.
He noted that many people tend to lose faith when confronted with difficulties, urging believers instead to maintain unwavering trust in God, which he said attracts divine intervention and blessings.
“When God is the rock of the people, they experience divine protection and intervention,” the governor said, urging Christians to emulate the faith of David, who triumphed in his battles through complete reliance on God.
In his welcome remarks, the President of the Global Baptist Mission, James Fongong, commended the governor for his developmental efforts on the Mambilla Plateau. He highlighted initiatives such as the establishment of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action in Gembu, the free education policy, and efforts to enhance peace and security in the region.
He appealed for greater attention to key challenges facing the community, particularly the need to improve healthcare services and speed up the construction of the road leading to Gembu.
Also speaking at the event, the member representing Nguroje Constituency, Nelson Len, praised the governor for travelling a considerable distance to attend the convention.
The service featured prophetic declarations, prayers of adoration, confession, and supplication.
