Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has flagged off the distribution of twenty five data capture machines and printers procured by the state government to support the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in expanding National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment across the state.
The flag-off ceremony took place on Friday at the TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the national identity registration process in Taraba.
According to him, the initiative marks the first time the state government is providing such substantial support to the commission to enhance identity enrolment.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of NIMC, Serah Babangida, expressed gratitude to the governor for the intervention, stating that the equipment would significantly improve the commission’s capacity to register more residents into the national identity database.
She described the programme as a historic milestone in intergovernmental collaboration and a demonstration of the state government’s commitment to inclusive governance and digital identity expansion.
She said that the initiative also aligns with the federal government’s broader effort to build a robust digital public infrastructure that ensures more Nigerians are captured in the national identity system.
