The Chief Protocol Officer to the former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Dr. Jolly T. Nyame, Hon. Haruna Daniel Kanawa, has resigned his membership from the All Progressive Congress (APC) and declared his alignment with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Kanawa announced his resignation in a letter made available to journalists, stating that the decision followed wide consultations with his political associates and constituents within Kunini Ward and beyond.
According to him, the move was guided by his personal political principles and the desire to pursue what he described as a “level playing field political trajectory.”
“I honorable Haruna Daniel Kanawa, of Kunini ward in Lau LGA wish to formally write to resign my membership from the All Progressive Congress APC to formally align my membership to the People’s Democratic Party PDP – he stated in the letter.
Observers says it has become a daily routine in the country”s political system both at National, State and Local levels, where politicians decamped from one political party to the other in fulfilment of their political ambitions.
They added that, defections may have implications for political dynamics at National State and Local levels especially as political realignments continue to shape the country’s political landscape ahead of the coming elections.
