Kogi Security Trust Fund Boosts Fight Against Crime with New Patrol Vehicles

By Achile Danjuma

In a significant move to strengthen public safety, the Kogi State Security Trust Fund (KGSSTF) has donated a fleet of patrol vehicles to key security agencies operating across the state. The intervention is aimed at enhancing operational capacity and ensuring a rapid response to emerging security threats.

The official handover ceremony took place on Wednesday in Lokoja. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the beneficiaries of the new assets include the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the KGSSTF, Mr. Omeiza Umar, underscored the Fund’s unwavering commitment to supporting frontline security personnel. He stated that the provision of essential operational logistics is critical to the collective mission of combating crime and safeguarding lives and property.

“Modern security operations depend heavily on mobility,” Mr. Umar explained. “These patrol vehicles are not just a donation; they are a strategic investment that will significantly expand patrol coverage, drastically cut down response times to distress calls, and foster better inter-agency coordination across Kogi State.”

The chairman urged the recipient agencies to ensure the judicious use and proper maintenance of the vehicles, emphasizing that the support is designed to boost operational efficiency and the morale of officers in the field. He described the intervention as a core part of the Trust Fund’s mandate to complement the government’s efforts in creating a safe and secure environment for both residents and investors.

Mr. Umar also took a moment to commend the dedication and sacrifices of all security personnel serving in the state. He assured them of the Trust Fund’s continued commitment to exploring additional avenues of support to enhance their effectiveness. He further expressed profound gratitude to the Kogi State Government, corporate organizations, and public-spirited individuals whose contributions to the Fund made the donation possible.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the agencies, the NSCDC Commandant in Kogi State, Mr. Olumide Aletan, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the KGSSTF. He described the gesture as both timely and impactful.

“We are immensely grateful for this critical support,” Mr. Aletan said. “I want to assure the Trust Fund and the people of Kogi State that these vehicles will be deployed strictly for operational duties. They will be used to strengthen our security presence and enhance the protection of our communities across the state.”
