FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has assured newly elected area council chairmen of his administration’s support through a newly formed “Rainbow Coalition,” regardless of their political parties.
Receiving the chairmen—who presented their Certificates of Return from INEC—at his Abuja office on Wednesday, Wike congratulated them on their February 21 election wins. He emphasized that the coalition, a strategy he previously utilized in Rivers State, is designed to unite APC and PDP members for the sole purpose of developing the FCT.
“No matter the party, what is important is that we work together,” Wike said, adding that those supporting President Tinubu from other parties are welcome in the coalition.
The Minister urged the incoming leaders to focus on good governance as they prepare for their swearing-in in June. He confirmed that the FCT Administration will partner closely with them to move the councils forward and also extended his well-wishes to the outgoing chairmen.
