The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially unveiled the schedule of activities for its forthcoming 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention, marking the beginning of an internal leadership renewal process across all tiers of the party.
In a statement released by the party on Saturday evening, the ADC said the exercise is a constitutional responsibility aimed at restructuring its leadership from the grassroots to the national level. The process will begin at the polling units and wards, then move through local government and state congresses, and will culminate in the National Convention.
According to the timetable approved by the party, the Polling Unit and Ward Congresses are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. These will be followed by the Local Government Area Congresses on Thursday, 9 April 2026, and the State Congresses on Saturday, 11 April 2026. The National Convention will then hold on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
The party noted that the congresses are part of efforts to strengthen internal democracy and reposition the ADC for future political engagements. It called on all members across the country to participate fully in the process to ensure a credible and transparent outcome.
