The statement reads in parts,

“We wish to inform the general public that following the successful signing of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) between the Government of Taraba State, the University Management, and the Union, Congress has resolved to suspend its total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action with effect from 18th March, 2026.

He said that the decision was reached after careful deliberation and in recognition of the commitments made by the Government to address the outstanding issues that led to the industrial action.

“The Union considers the MoA a significant step toward restoring normal academic activities and ensuring the welfare of its members.

He assures students, parents, and the public that academic activities will resume accordingly, while the Union continues to closely monitor the implementation of all agreements reached.

“The Branch remains committed to ensuring that all provisions of the MoA are faithfully executed in the interest of staff and the overall development of the University.

According to him, both academic and non-academic staff had earlier accepted a N500 million offer by Governor Agbu Kefas to resolve the industrial dispute.

“Yes, the strike is officially suspended. We have reached a healthy agreement with the state government this afternoon, and the indefinite strike action embarked upon since February 18 is hereby suspended – he said.

He commended Governor Kefas and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the resumption of academic activities at Taraba State University.

Mbave, however, urged the state government to remain committed to the terms of the agreement to avoid further disruptions to the academic calendar.

The suspension of the strike is expected to pave the way for the immediate resumption of lectures and normal academic activities at the university.

Comrade Mbave appreciates the patience, understanding, and support of stakeholders throughout the period of the strike.
