Iyorza Assumes Office as C’River Advertising Practitioners Chairman

By Abasi Ita

A new leadership has been inaugurated for the Cross River State Council of the Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria, with Prof. Stanislaus Iyorza formally assuming office as chairman.

The inauguration, presided over by Barr. Ukam Ngwu, drew advertising professionals, industry stakeholders, and guests who witnessed the transition of leadership within the state chapter.

In his acceptance address, Iyorza thanked members for the trust placed in him and pledged to promote professionalism and uphold ethical standards in the industry. He underscored the need to regulate activities within the advertising space, particularly amid the rapid expansion of digital and social media platforms, urging practitioners to comply with the council’s registration guidelines.

He also outlined plans to foster closer collaboration between industry players and academic institutions, noting that such partnerships would enhance knowledge exchange and raise professional standards. According to him, the council will prioritise training programmes, workshops, and stakeholder engagements to strengthen capacity within the sector.

The chairman further highlighted the importance of promoting locally produced advertising content, observing that much of the material used in the state is sourced externally. He noted that supporting local talent would boost job creation and contribute to the growth of the creative economy.

Iyorza assured that the council would work with government and relevant stakeholders to ensure responsible advertising practices, while identifying and engaging practitioners across outdoor, electronic, and digital platforms.

Earlier, the outgoing chairman, Mr. Ita Okon, reflected on achievements recorded since the council’s establishment in 2022, including formal registration, the creation of operational structures, and improved coordination among practitioners.

He commended the Director General of ARCON, Olalekan Fadolapo, and his CRISSAA counterpart, Sam Ubon, for their support, expressing confidence in the ability of the new leadership to consolidate on existing progress.

Also speaking, the council’s Secretary, Dr. Michael Igbo, reiterated the need for professionalism and certification, stressing that only qualified and registered individuals should practice advertising.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ben Okeke, who appreciated stakeholders for their support and urged unity in advancing the advertising profession in Cross River State.
