Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has finalized plans to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to a statement released by the movement on Saturday.
The announcement, signed by spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, states that the former governor of Kano will officially register with the party on Monday, March 30, 2026. The registration is scheduled to take place at 12:00 p.m. at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road in Kano.
Following the leader’s registration, the statement directed all members of the political movement to immediately register with the ADC in their respective wards, local government areas, and states across the country. The movement also encouraged members to engage in party activities to contribute to the party’s growth and success.
The statement described the move as a “strategic decision” made in the interest of the movement and the nation, reaffirming the group’s commitment to democratic values and good governance.
“We emphasize that democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected,” the statement read.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement, known for its significant political following primarily in the North-West, has a history of shifting political allegiances. Kwankwaso, a prominent political figure, previously served as a senator and was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections.
