In a personal statement released on the occasion of his 74th birthday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed the nation, expressing gratitude for the public’s support while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ongoing reforms.
The President described the day as one filled with “joy and gratitude,” thanking citizens for their messages, prayers, and patriotism. He extended specific acknowledgments to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their tributes.
Consistent with past observances, President Tinubu noted that he chose to mark this year’s anniversary in a low-key manner, reflecting what he described as “the mood of the nation.”
Reflecting on the challenges faced since the introduction of his administration’s reforms, the President acknowledged “temporary setback caused by ongoing Middle East crisis” but pointed to what he called “glittering light at the end of the tunnel.” He emphasized that the achievements thus far were collective, stating that “the credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me.”
As the administration approaches its third anniversary, Tinubu expressed confidence in the path ahead, urging continued unity. “Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa,” he said.
