Abia State Government Alleges Plot to Destabilize State Through Sponsored Protest Against Gov. Otti

The Abia State Government has raised alarm over an alleged plan by some political actors to sponsor a protest aimed at destabilizing the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, the government revealed that intelligence reports indicate certain individuals are mobilizing miscreants from Aba and neighboring states to stage a demonstration under the slogan: “Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop.”

According to the government, the planned protest is intended to promote a “false narrative” that projects currently being executed by the state government are funded by the Federal Government. Ekeoma reiterated that the government had previously clarified that federal refunds for such projects have been discontinued.

The statement further warned that the alleged plot is designed to provoke confrontations between protesters and security operatives—particularly the State Task Force in Aba—which could escalate into violence, loss of lives, and a breakdown of law and order.

“The government warns that such actions may be part of efforts to create instability in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read. “While we reaffirm our commitment to democratic principles and tolerance of opposition, we will take decisive action against any individual or group found attempting to endanger public safety under the guise of political expression.”

The government also urged parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against participating in any politically motivated protests that could jeopardize their safety.

It assured residents of its continued commitment to maintaining peace, security, and an open political environment where individuals can freely pursue their political ambitions without fear or intimidation.
