A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) loyal to Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani has passed a vote of no confidence in the party’s leadership at both the state and national levels, citing a complete collapse of internal democracy.
In a decisive move, the group announced its immediate and irrevocable mass resignation from the ADC in Adamawa State. The faction has also mandated Senator Binani to lead stakeholders in identifying and transitioning to a viable political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a particular focus on the Adamawa State governorship race.
Political observers note that the development represents a significant setback for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the ADC’s structure in Adamawa. They argue that Binani commands a substantial following in the state, and her departure from the party—along with her loyalists—deals a major blow to the ADC’s electoral prospects in the region.
