The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning regarding the distribution of unregistered and suspected counterfeit Colgate toothpaste products, particularly in Kaduna State.
In a statement released on Sunday, NAFDAC disclosed that its Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS) Directorate received a complaint about the sale of these counterfeit items. An investigation team was promptly deployed to the reported outlet, where two suspected unregistered products—Colgate ActivGel 100g and Colgate Herbal 100g—were found available for purchase.
According to the agency, these counterfeit products pose a potential risk to public health and safety. The items were immediately removed from the shop, and further investigations are ongoing to trace the distributors behind the unregistered goods.
The shop owner reportedly informed the NAFDAC team that the products had been purchased from a door-to-door sales representative, but could not provide any proof of purchase.
NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected counterfeit products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
