Soludo Opens New Health Centre in Anambra, Hails Community Effort

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned the Samuel Akpua Memorial Complex in Abba, describing the project as a model of community-driven development and a boost to healthcare delivery in the state.

The facility, built and donated by the Akpua family, is located within St. Ann’s Hospital and Maternity in Njikoka Local Government Area.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Soludo commended the Akpua family for their foresight and generosity, describing the initiative as a reflection of purposeful collaboration.

He said the project reflects the “Aku Luo Uno” philosophy, which promotes community-driven development, describing it as “a model of purposeful collaboration.”

The governor added that the initiative aligns with his administration’s Public-Private-Community Partnership framework.

“Such partnerships are vital for sustainable growth and improved living standards,” Soludo said.

The governor noted that projects like this complement government efforts to improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved communities.

According to the family, the complex, dedicated to the late Samuel Akpua, is equipped to provide dialysis care, maternity services, diagnostic and laboratory services, as well as outpatient care.

They added that the new facility is expected to enhance healthcare delivery at St. Ann’s Hospital and Maternity, improving access to medical services for residents of Abba and surrounding communities.

The statement said the project is being driven under the umbrella of the Samuel & Josephine Akpua Foundation, with Dr. Josephine Akpua serving as Grand Patron, Dr. Chike Akpua as Executive Director, and Ugo Akpua as President.
