To ensure professional coverage of 2027 General Election the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama has advised journalists to be factual in their reportage and adhere strictly to ethical standards before, during and after the polls.
Dr Bulama gave the charge in Abuja during a One-Day Capacity Development Training for Editors, Reporters and Producers of the Corporation.
Represented by a Director, DG office,Mr. Suleiman Musa, the DG stressed the need for trust, fact-checking and responsible journalism in safeguarding democracy.
Media experts, including Martin Oloja and Alhaji Mohammed Bello, urged participants to leverage the Electoral Act, data journalism and balanced reporting before, during and after the elections.
Director of Programmes, Dr. Abiodun Ogidan, expressed optimism about improved performance, with highlights including a presentation by Dr. Akin Akingbulu and participation of key stakeholders.
The training with the theme “Towards 2027 Elections: Ethical Standards, Security Awareness and Combating Misinformation,” focused on equipping editors, reporters and producers with practical skills.
