In commemoration of the 2026 Workers’ Day observed every first of May globally,, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) organised a novelty football match between the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to promote unity, teamwork, healthy living, and staff well-being across both organisations.
The match, played in a lively and friendly atmosphere, showcased impressive teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship from both sides, with TCN emerging victorious at the final whistle with a 5–3 win over NISO, according to a statement signed by TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.
According to the statement, the event underscored the importance of strengthening workplace relationships beyond formal settings, reinforcing both organisations’ shared commitment to collaboration, employee engagement, and healthy living.
In attendance were management staff from both organisations, including the Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider (TCN), Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye; Executive Director, Finance & Accounts (TCN), Mr. Chuks Ochijie; and General Manager, Engineering (TCN), Engr. Mojeed Akintola.
Also present were Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services (NISO), Mr Ibironke Babajide; General Manager, Human Resources (NISO), Mrs Tijanni Halima; and General Manager, Legal Services (NISO), Barr. Bashiru Mohammed among others.
