Benue APC: Gov. Alia, Akume Camps Hold Reconciliation Meeting

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state will hold a major reconciliatory meeting today, May 3, aimed at resolving internal disputes and strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Alia made the disclosure while receiving his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for re-election, purchased on his behalf by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in collaboration with the Benue Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association.

He said the meeting would bring together key stakeholders across the party, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, noting that both his camp and that of the SGF would be fully represented.

“We have all agreed that by Sunday, we will come together. My delegation will be there, and the SGF’s delegation will also be present. We are going to blend and become one. This is very crucial for the development and progress of the state,” Alia said.

The governor acknowledged the existence of internal disagreements within the party but downplayed their significance, stressing that shared goals far outweigh divisions.

“What divides us is not stronger than what unites us. Our collective aspirations are bigger than any differences we may have,” he stated.

Alia expressed optimism that the reconciliation effort would foster inclusiveness and consolidate the party’s strength in the state.

“We need to come together and grow stronger. Benue is APC, and no one should be left behind. What we achieved in 2023 must be surpassed in 2027,” he added.

He also called on party members and Nigerians at large to support the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that continued backing would ensure sustained national development.
