Real Madrid Sign Young Moroccan Earthquake Survivor To Their Academy

Real Madrid has shown compassion by assisting a young Moroccan boy, Abdul Rahim Awhida, who lost five family members in a Moroccan earthquake. Abdul, a devoted Los Blancos supporter, had been wearing the club’s shirt during an emotional interview outside his damaged home, where he used the shirt to wipe away his tears while recounting the harrowing experience.

The interview quickly went viral around the world, with countless fans tagging Real Madrid’s social media accounts, hoping to bring the boy some solace and assistance. Responding to this outpouring of support, the Spanish football giant took action by reaching out to Saudi Arabian TV station Al Arabiya in an effort to contact Abdul’s uncle.

Upon successfully locating Abdul, Real Madrid extended an incredibly heartwarming offer: they offered to take him under their wing and welcome him into their football family. The club’s plan is to integrate Abdul into their prestigious academy while ensuring that he can continue his education in Spain, thereby fulfilling his late father’s aspirations.

Abdul’s tragic loss is immeasurable; he lost his father, mother, two brothers, and grandfather among the more than 2,900 individuals who perished in the powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco. In the midst of his grief, Abdul expressed his desire to fulfill his father’s dream of completing his education and pursuing a career as a teacher or a doctor. His determination to continue his studies despite such adversity is truly inspiring.

Real Madrid’s compassionate response to this tragedy underscores their commitment not only to the sport of football but also to the well-being and dreams of individuals like Abdul who have faced unimaginable hardships. In addition to their generous offer to Abdul, Real Madrid, like several other clubs, released an official statement expressing their profound concern and solidarity for the earthquake victims. Their message conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to the injured, sending strength and affection to the people of Morocco during this difficult time.

Abdul’s reaction to the news of Real Madrid’s offer was a mixture of surprise and joy, a testament to the incredible impact that acts of kindness and support can have on individuals facing adversity. This heartwarming story not only highlights the power of sport to unite and uplift people but also demonstrates the profound empathy and humanity that Real Madrid has exhibited in reaching out to a young boy in need, offering him a chance for a brighter future despite the darkness of his recent past.
