The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has announced a two-day planned power outage for customers in Lugbe, Airport Road, Gaduwa and other parts of Abuja.
The company made the announcement on its verified X handle on Friday.
According to AEDC, the power outage is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, at the instance of the Federal Capital Development Authority.
It explained that the outage is to enable the relocation of critical electricity infrastructure along the 33kV feeders H21 and H23, as well as the 11kV feeder H1A in the Gaduwa District.
It said the exercise will also facilitate ongoing road construction in the overriding public interest.
The company said that during the period, electricity supply to the affected areas would be temporarily disrupted.
“Supply will be restored upon completion of the exercise.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding,” AEDC said.
Nigeria’s power sector continues to grapple with chronic instability, marked by frequent national grid collapses, low generation capacity, and planned maintenance outages that disrupt daily life and economic activities.
In recent months, the country has experienced multiple system-wide blackouts, including the first grid collapse of 2026 in January, followed by another shortly after.
