The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern region of the country.
The decision was taken at the party’s maiden national convention held in Abuja, where delegates adopted a motion moved by the member representing Ogbaru Constituency in the House of Representatives, Afam Victor Ogene.
By the arrangement, the presidency will remain in the South for a single four year term before being rotated to the North.
The decision is expected to open the contest for several southern aspirants, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and other interested contenders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
