Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have endorsed Prof. Sandy Onor as the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2027 general election.
The endorsement was made on Tuesday during a meeting of party stakeholders and members held in Ibadan, where delegates overwhelmingly backed Onor through a voice vote organised by the state chapter of the PDP.
The exercise was supervised by the Oyo State PDP Chairman, Prof. Rahman Akinoso, who conducted the voice vote that received unanimous approval from party members present.
Reacting after the exercise, the Returning Officer for the affirmation and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, commended party leaders and supporters for their loyalty and dedication to the PDP.
Gbolarumi described Onor as a seasoned and dependable politician with the capacity to reposition Nigeria, expressing optimism that the PDP candidate would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
He maintained that the PDP remained focused on programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and tackling the nation’s economic and social challenges.
According to him, Nigerians should support the PDP because the party possesses the experience and blueprint needed to ensure inclusive growth and effective governance.
“The presidential candidate is fully prepared for victory in 2027. We appreciate the commitment and support shown by party leaders and members,” he stated.
He further noted that the party’s people-oriented agenda would encourage economic recovery, national progress and better living standards for citizens.
Also speaking, the Oyo PDP Chairman, Prof. Rahman Akinoso, praised members for their steadfastness and loyalty to the party.
Akinoso urged party faithful to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The endorsement is expected to boost the PDP’s ongoing consultations and preparations as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum nationwide.
